With over twenty years’ teaching experience and over thirteen years’ experience teaching yoga, Sage Rountree, PhD, is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the highest level (E-RYT 500) with the Yoga Alliance and sits on the faculty at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Her popular classes are attended by students and teachers of all backgrounds and levels, from University of North Carolina athletes and coaches to yoga teachers; students from around the world enjoy her classes at YogaVibes and at Core Strength for Real People.
Sage is the leading international authority in yoga for athletes; author of six books, including The Athlete’s Guide to Yoga, Racing Wisely, and Everyday Yoga; and writer for national publications, including Yoga Journal, Runner’s World, and USA Triathlon Magazine. Her work on yoga for athletes has been featured by ESPN, Runner’s World, Inside Triathlon, Yoga Journal, Men’s Fitness, Men’s Journal, USA Today, U.S. News and World Report, Martha Stewart Living Radio, and the Chicago Tribune.
Director of both the 200- and 500-hour yoga Carolina Yoga teacher training programs, she helps teachers at every level refine their skills, voice, intention, and goals. As a mentor teacher, Sage has contributed several articles on teaching yoga to Yoga Journal’s My Yoga Mentor and to prAna Life, distributed to the full Yoga Alliance membership.
